Going into this game, Coach Fishburn had heard all the chatter that Tracy was going to get blown out by a Lincoln team that had outscored their opponents 299 to 32, but as the game progressed Thursday night, Coach Fishburn became very confident he was going to tag Lincoln with their first loss of the year.
There would be no score in this contest until the 3rd quarter when a Lincoln punt return established good field position. They would end up scoring on a broken play to take a 6-0 lead. With time winding down in the 4th, Tracy began to mount what they thought would be a game winning drive. With 1:50 left in the game, Tracy was approaching the Lincoln 5 yard line and a completed pass at that moment would generate a score or at least a new set of downs. The pass was received but bounced off the Bulldog receiver and into the hands of a lucky Trojan which ended Tracy's chance for an upset.
Coach Fishburn was extremely proud of his team after this emotional contest. "We played really well, the defense was just fantastic," said Fishburn. "I want our team to know and our fans how proud I am of our Frosh/Soph team and the fight they showed tonight against a very good opponent."
TOKAY - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 = 0

The Tracy defense struck quick with Kaleb Johnson recovering a fumble in the Tokay backfield and running it approx 60+ yards for the first score. Santiago Mahoney then had an 11 yard touchdown run with 3:21 left in the quarter. The Johnny Meyers kick was blocked to make it 13-0. To end the first quarter Cameron Ross-Escobar punched it in from 1 yard out to make it 19-0.
Christopher Inigo threw a perfect pass to a wide open Josh Cortinas early in the 2nd quarter to beef the score up to 26-0 after the Meyers point after.
In the 2nd half Tracy added two more scores while the defense played perfect. Ross-Escobar had a 24 yard touchdown and Mateo Espinoza had a 6 yard TD.
The Bulldog defense was tested on the final Tokay drive of the game but held at the goal line.
Tracy had 205 yards total offense and limited the Tigers to just 98 yards on the night. Santiago Mahoney led all rushers with 77 yards on 3 carries.

Coaches comments: It was a close game and they scored with 59 seconds left for the winning score. They were up 14-0 and we came back to make it 12-14. We decided to go for two to tie after missing the first PAT and made it to tie it up with approximately 3:50 left. They then moved the ball down the field and scored with 59 seconds left. We got down to approximately their 15 yard line and ran out of time.
I've watched several freshman football teams gather for the first time to take the field. Many are a bit quiet and timid as they fight the nerves of their first game, but not this 2019 group, they were confident and ready to go to battle. After a few early mistakes, the team began to execute their game plan and put the pressure on the Jaguars.
On the first play from scrimmage to start the game, the Jaguars fumbled and Tracy looked like they were going finish up their first offensive series with a score, however the Bulldogs gave the ball back to the Jaguars on a fumble of their own on the 9 yard line. Fast forward to the end of the first quarter and the Bulldogs got their first score of the season on a 20 yard run by Santiago Mahoney with 44 seconds left. The extra point was no good and Tracy took a 6-0 lead into the 2nd quarter.
Kaleb Larson would get the next Bulldog score with a 1 yard run with 5:32 left in the 2nd. The two point conversion by Cameron Ross-Escobar made it 14-0.
Late in the 2nd with 1:49 left, Andres Gamboa intercepted a pass and went 36 yards for the score. The kick by Anthony Blake made it 21-0 going into the half.
David Garcia rushed 18 yards with 4:56 left in the 3rd to push the score to 27-0. Another kick was made by Blake to make 28-0.
Kimball got on the board early in the 4th to make it 28-8 but Tracy would accelerate further ahead with two more scores to put the finishing touches on Kimball.
Coach Fishburn was really proud of his team in their debut performance. "Our guys did a really good job implementing what they learned in practice to gameday considering we did not have any film on Kimball. The offensive and defensive line were really solid in their play and we were able to control the ball which made everything so much easier in the game. I believe we never punted the whole game. It was a good all around performance for our guys," said Fishburn.

On a beautiful late summer evening with no functioning scoreboard, the Bulldogs and Buffaloes squared off in a hard hitting Frosh/Soph battle that only saw one pass attempted all game. After Tracy fumbled in their opening drive, Manteca ran straight up the middle on their first drive to place 6 on the board and a 2 point conversion.
In the 2nd quarter (5:22) on Tracy's 2nd drive of the game, Cameron Ross-Escobar scored on a 4 yard run. Ross-Escobar also scored on the conversion to tie the game.
Later in the 2nd quarter, Manteca scored again to make it 14-8.
Santiago Mahoney had a nice 60 yard touchdown run with 1:20 left in the half to make it 14-14.
Manteca would score once more in the 3rd and hold off Tracy the rest of the way to escape Wayne Schneider Stadium with the victory.

Tracy played St. Mary's tough this year and had some opportunities in the 2nd half to be in a position of advantage but a host of penalties did not help the Bulldogs. Tracy was flagged 10 times in the game costing them 80 yards and a couple of critical first downs.
After St. Mary's scored on the last play of the first quarter, Tracy would come back in the 2nd quarter and place two scores to take a 14-13 lead into halftime. Cameron Ross-Escobar had a 29 yard touchdown run and he scored again with under a minute left on a 1 yard run. Both of Johnny Meyers kicks were good.
In the 3rd, St. Mary's was able to burn the Tracy defense on a 39 yard pass to take a 19-14 lead. In the 4th they collected another touchdown on a 33 yard pass. With 5:22 left in the game Santiago Mahoney had a 2 yard run to end the Tracy scoring 5 points short.
Cameron Ross-Escobar was 3 of 7 passing for 51 yards. He rushed 9 times for 82 yards and two of the Tracy scores. Santiago Mahoney had 13 touches for 67 yards and a TD. Kurtis Maynor had 2 carries for 11 yards and Mateo Espinoza collected 6 yards on 6 carries.
