2002 JV Dogs finish 8-2.
Coach Nelson Guillen was highly complimentary of his JV team as he spoke to them pre and postgame at West High on Thursday. "It has been my pleasure coaching you guys this year. You have been a great group of guys, who were hard working, intelligent, and grinded."
The Dogs utilizing a revised roster of Frosh and JV players took care of business on Thursday and Dillon Posten finished his season strong scoring three times in the first half.

Q1 The only scoring of the quarter comes with 3:50 left, when Dillon Posten catches a touchdown pass from Brandon MacDonald. The extra point by Matthew Lavelle makes it 7-0.
Q2 - Tracy blocks a punt at the 6:40 mark on the West 40. A minute later MacDonald finds Posten again over the middle for another touchdown for 40 yards. The extra point is good 14-0.
4:30 Tracy recovers a fumble at the West 15 yard line. Posten scores again on a short rush at the 2:19 mark. Lavelle stays perfect and it is 21-0.
West gets their sole touchdown of the game with 20 seconds left in the half.
Halftime Tracy 21 - West 7
6:30 - Armaan Sandu intercepts a pass at the West 35. MacDonald finds David Goularte on a 20 yard touchdown pass with 4:41 left in the quarter. The extra point makes it 28 - 7.
Derek Bogetti finds the end zone from 22 yards out with 13 seconds left in the quarter. Lavelle stays perfect making it 35-7
Q4 - Brian Lindt pitches to Jack Karle who runs it in with 5:11 left in the game. Lavelle finishes perfect tp go up 42-7.
Defense was the name of this game as both teams held each other in check for most of the evening.
Q1 - The first Tracy drive runs out of gas at the Lodi 10 yard line. The Bulldog defense holds and the offense gets another crack at the Tracy 37 with 1:05 left in the quarter. There is no scoring in the quarter.
Q2 - A high Tracy snap on a punt gives Lodi excellent field position which they immediately turn into a score. The 2 point conversion is no good. Lodi 6 - Tracy 0
David Goularte has a nice kickoff return. The promising drive ends with a fumble at the 1 yard line with 6:01 left in the half.
With 2:58 left in the half, Lodi fumbles a pitch in the end zone and Alfaro Novoa lands on it for the score. The extra point is good. Lodi 6 - Tracy 7.
Lodi assembles a quick drive down the field with a mix of running and passing but with 30 seconds left a pass to goal line is intercepted by David Goularte. The Dogs are unable to assemble a drive before the end of the half.
HALFTIME - LODI 6 - TRACY 7
Q3 - -There is no scoring in the 3rd quarter as both defenses shine.
Q4 - Tracy attempts to convert a 4th and 2 at their own 14 yard line with 6 minutes left but the Flames thwart the attempt. With the excellent field position, Lodi eventually gets a score with 3:16 left in the game to take a 12-7 lead. The 2 point run is no good.
Tracy gets one more attempt to win the game but the Lodi defense prevails in the red zone.
The Line Dogs had a fantastic game pushing the Rams around. Add to that inspiring play on both sides of the ball by David Goularte along with long runs by Derek Bogetti gave the JV a key 27-21 league win. Goularte and Bogetti would each have two touchdowns.
Q1 - 9:15 - On the 2nd play of the game on their own 43, Tracy fumbles a handoff. The Rams have a long drive but do not score due to good Tracy defense and several Rams penalties.
David Goularte scores on a 77 yard run. The extra point by Angel Franco makes it 7-0
Goularte makes a solid defensive play to prevent a first down on a fake punt late in the first quarter.
Tracy 7 - St. Mary's 0 End of First Quarter
Q2: Defense is the name of the game in the 2nd quarter and there is no scoring.
Q3: St. Mary's fumbles the opening kickoff giving Tracy the ball at the Rams 39. Tracy then fumbles at the Rams 14 with 6:52 left.
Rams score on a 86 yard play with 6:16 left in the quarter to tie the game at seven.
Derek Bogetti gets rolling on several long rushing plays. At the 3:56 mark he scores from 8 yards out. Tracy 14 - St. Mary's 7.
Q4: The Rams score early in the quarter on a 65 yard pass. Tracy 14 - St. Mary's 13.
Brandon MacDonald shows his athleticism with a long run down to the 15, which sets up a score by Goularte from 9 yards out with 40 seconds left in the game. The kick is good. Dogs lead 21 - 13.
The defense continues to hold and Dogs get the ball back late in the game and begin to chew the clock down. Goularte has a reverse field run to place Tracy in excellent scoring position. Bogetti then scores with 59 seconds left. The kick is no good. 27-13.
The Rams score with 21 seconds left to make it 27-21.
The onside kick is recovered by the Bulldogs to secure the win.
Q1 - On the first Tracy series David Goularte scores on a 60 yard keeper. The Angel Franco extra point was good. 7-0
Q2 - Derek Bogetti scores from 2 yards out on the 2nd play of the quarter. 13-0
Tracy fumbles at the Tokay 40 and that eventually leads to a Tokay scoring drive. 13-7.
Dillon Posten scores with 3:48 left on a 49 yard rush to make it 20-7.
Halftime Tokay 7 - Tracy 20
Q3 - Bogetti intercepts coming out of halftime at the Tokay 36 yard line Goularte scores on a 2 yard run to make it 26-7. The 2 point conversion is good 28-7.
Q4 With 4:28 left in the game Tokay scores on a 8 yard pass. The kick was no good.

With their starting quarterback under the weather hours before kickoff, Tracy called an audible and did the best they could with altered positions. The defense kept the Bulldogs in the game until late allowing Lincoln to pull ahead for a victory. "We played with heart today but had a few too many errors and did not have the offensive structure we expected to play with today," said Coach Guillen.
Q1 Lincoln scores early on a 34 yard run and connects on the two point conversion 8-0.
Tracy can't find rhythm offensively early but the defense tightens up to give Tracy a chance throughout the game.
End of Q 1: Tracy 0 - Lincoln 8
Q2 - Tracy is driving on a possession in the middle of the 2nd quarter but there is a fumble on a pitch near midfield and a promising Tracy drive is erased. The Tracy defense once again comes up big forcing a Lincoln punt. A fake punt is botched giving Tracy the ball deep in Lincoln territory. Tracy scores on a 10 yard run by #11. The two point conversion is no good.
The Tracy defense once again puts the clamps on the Trojans to close out the half.
HALFTIME: Lincoln 8 - Tracy 6
Q3: With 3:53 left in the quarter, David Goularte scores on a 57 yard touchdown run to give Tracy a 12-8 lead. The two point conversion is no good.
2:24 Lincoln responds with a 59 yard touchdown pass. Lincoln takes back the lead 16-12.
1:51 Tracy fumbles at their 47. Lincoln would score a few plays later to increase their lead to 22-12 with 54 seconds left in the 3rd.
Q4 8:53 left. Tracy scores with a 39 yard pass from Goularte to #11 Lincoln 22- Tracy 18
2:40 Lincoln scores 8 more points 30-18 to finish the scoring.
It was an exciting game of defense and a whole lot of David Goularte for Tracy as he would score three times and was very active on defense to help preserve the win. Tracy remained undefeated but it took every ounce of energy as the defense chased down a very mobile Downey quarterback for four quarters.

Q2 - Downey intercepts Tracy to start the 2nd quarter and is able to keep an extended drive going by converting two separate 4th and longs. At the 7:02 mark, Tracy gets to see the stellar Downey kicker Jacob Wallace for the first time who boots a 33 yard field goal with extra to spare. Tracy 6 - Downey 3.
Late in the first half the Tracy offense stalls and gives Downey good field position with about 3 minutes left. With 1:49 left, another field goal is made from 43 yards out to tie the game 6-6.
With 36 seconds left before halftime, Brandon MacDonald finds Dillon Posten on a 56 yard touchdown pass. A low snap foils the extra point attempt.
HALFTIME TRACY 12 - DOWNEY 6
Q3 - The first scoring of the 2nd half occurs with 6:36 left in the 3rd quarter on another Wallace field goal of 36 yards to bring Downey closer at 12-9.
3:27 - The Tracy defense is expending a lot of energy pursuing a very mobile Downey quarterback but they make a key stop deep in their territory at the 7 yard line.
3:12 David Goularte then lights up the Tracy fans with a 93 yard run on a pitch play to give Tracy a 18-9 lead. The 2 point conversion is no good.
1:43 the Tracy defense holds again at the Downey 45 and takes over on downs.
:17 seconds - Goularte scores again on a 23 yard touchdown run. The 2 point conversion is no good. Tracy 24 - Downey 9 end of 3rd quarter.
Q4 - 8:45 Downey comes back with a 42 yard touchdown pass. The 2 point pass is good to make it Tracy 24 - Downey 17.
4:45 - Tracy is putting a nice drive together and is at midfield but they fumble. On the next Downey play, Goularte intercepts the Downey pass at the Tracy 48 with 3:35 left in the game.
Tracy cannot get a critical 1st down at the Downey 39 with 1:31 left and gives the ball to Downey for one last attempt to tie or win the game.
Goularte appears to intercept a pass to ice the game but it is eventually ruled an incomplete pass. Downey continues to chip away at the Tracy defense and is getting the near red zone but time is dwindling and Tracy tackles a receiver in the red zone as time expires.

Q1 Elijah Gutierrez started his big offensive and defensive day by rushing for the first Tracy TD from approx 30 yards out. A 2 point conversion was made by Dillon Posten.
The Tracy defense started very strong stopping the first two Wildcat possessions, they would go on to have a great first half with strong pressure up the middle and good play by their secondary.
With 3:49 left in the first quarter Brandon MacDonald kept the ball for the 2nd score of the game on a 11 yard rush. The kick by #56 was good to make it 15-0.
Gutierrez had an awesome 70 yard interception return but it was called back due to a roughing the passer penalty.
Q1: Tracy 15 - Franklin 0
Q2 Tracy would score to go up 21-0 at the 4 minute mark by a 10 yard keeper by Brandon MacDonald. It was setup with a nice 40 yard run by Dillon Posten down to the 10 yard line. The point after was no good
Posten would have a stellar 43 yard touchdown run near the end of the first half to put Tracy up 28-0 with the point after. 1:29 left in the half.
Tracy 28 - Franklin 0 - HALFTIME
Q3 Tracy would fumble twice in the 3rd quarter to prevent any further offensive production.
Q4 The defense would hold until the 4th quarter when Franklin scored with 8 minutes left and with 1:43 left in the game.

Tracy brought their strong defense in week two as they would keep the Dragons off the scoreboard on Friday night at Wayne Schneider Stadium.

Q1 At the 5:19 mark Tracy had put together a nice opening drive but they fumbled at midfield. The defense would hold but the remainder of the quarter there would be no scoring.
Q2 Quarterback Brandon MacDonald would keep it himself and score at the 9:48 mark. The kick by Angel Franco would make it 7-0.
The Dragons would put a long drive together but once again the Bulldog defense locked things down at the 4:06 mark of the first half and held at their own 17 yard line. At this point things looked promising for another score before the half but a penalty on a 67 yard pass and an unsportsmanlike conduct call at the 1 yard line pushed Tracy back and spoiled a score before halftime. Armando Salinas did make a nice interception at the Dragons 30 yard line just before the half ended.
Halftime 7-0
Entering the 3rd quarter the defense halted the Dragons again allowing Jason Campbell to collect a 15 yard rushing touchdown. The point after by Franco was good 14-0.
With 21 seconds left MacDonald scored and make the 2 point conversion. 22-0 end of quarter.
Q4 The Dogs recovered a fumble at the Dragons 14 yard line. Dillon Posten scored from 10 yards out to make it 28-0 with 9:45 left in the game.
Jack Karle would score on a rush to make it 34-0 a the 6:16 mark.
After another Dragon fumble Derek Bogetti scored on a 25 yard run. The kick was good and the game settled at 41-0.
The Tracy offense tried to give the game away with numerous turnovers, but the defense kept them in it limiting the first half to only a 12-0 deficit. By the 2nd half play on both sides of the ball began to equalize and the JV would get their scoring accomplished and escape with a 21-12 victory.

Q1 - On Tracy's first drive they would fumble near midfield but the Bulldog defense prevented in early scoring. Late in the first quarter an opportunity presents itself when the Dogs intercept a pass with 3 minutes left near midfield and returns it for a touchdown. A penalty nullifies the score and then Tracy proceeds to fumble again to terminate the scoring opportunity. The quarter ends with no score.
Q2 - On the first play of the 2nd quarter Tracy fumbles for now the third time of the game. Kimball would end up scoring twice this quarter and Tracy would fumble once again before the half arrives.

Q3 - The Tracy defense continues to improve as the game goes on keeping the Jaguars out of the end zone.. Elijah Gutierrez gets Tracy on the board with an approximate 40 yard punt return for a score. Tracy 6 - Kimball 12 5:03 Q3.
Tracy ties the game as Brandon MacDonald takes the ball from center for a score with 1:43 left in the 3rd. Angel Franco kicks the extra point to give Tracy the lead and that closes out the scoring for Q3.
Q4 - Tracy defense gets a safety at the start of the 4th quarter to push the lead to 15-12.
Elijah Gutierrez scores on a run but the extra point is blocked. 21-12.
Tracy would fumble one more time late in the 4th to put a little extra tension into the game, but the defense continues to stand firm to preserve the lead and close out the game.
The JV game started with a bang as Elijah Gutierrez looked to return the kickoff for a touchdown but a block on the back brought the ball back to midfield. A few plays later and quarterback Brandon MacDonald ran it in from six yards outs. The extra point was blocked. 6-0
The Tracy defense played stout all night and stuffed the run on the first series allowing the ball to quickly return to the offense. MacDonald and Marcos Cruz connected for a 50 yard pass and run which setup a 30 yard rushing touchdown by Dillon Posten on a pitch from MacDonald. The 2 point conversion by MacDonald was good 14-0.
Tracy would get a fumble recovery but gave it right back on an interception.
Q2 - Gutierrez intercepts a Pacheco pass and runs this one back but once again is denied the points on a block in the back. The ball is spotted at the Pacheco 45 and the offense is unable to finish the drive.
An electrifying kick return by Dillon Posten gets the ball to the Pacheco seven yard line. Eventually Gutierrez runs it in from 4 yards out. The extra point by Angel Franco is good 21-0 at the half.
HALFTIME 21-0
Q3 Gutierrez returns a punt 40 yards which sets up a 33 yard rushing touchdown by Posten. A low snap on the extra point creates a 2 point scoring opportunity for a pass from MacDonald to Posten. 29-0
Q4 - Dylan Gerding intercepts a pass at midfield and returns it to the Pacheco 9 yard line. A 5 yard TD run by Jack Karle makes it 35-0 for the final score (kick blocked).
