The Bulldogs dominated Turlock Friday night, rolling to a 42-7 victory behind a strong rushing attack and a defense that held Turlock scoreless through 99 percent of the game.

The game was scoreless after the opening quarter, but Tracy broke through early in the second quarter and never looked back.  Ramsey Ahmad opened the scoring with a 9-yard touchdown run with 11:02 remaining in the second quarter.   The extra point by Miguel Pena gave Tracy a 7-0 lead.

With 4:36 left in the half, David Grisham scored on a 10-yard run. The point after by Conner Giulliaci was good, pushing Tracy's advantage to 14-0.

Tracy added one more touchdown before halftime when Brady Brown scored from 3 yards out with 1:10 remaining in the second quarter. Tracy took a commanding 21-0 lead into the locker room for an extended halftime.

Tracy continued to control the game in the third quarter. Grisham scored his second touchdown of the night on a 13-yard run with 7:12 remaining in the quarter to put Tracy up 28-0 on the point after.

Tracy added two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter. With 11:55 remaining, Santino Sandoval punched the ball into the end zone from 2 yards out making it 35-0.  AJ Saenz then scored on a 13-yard touchdown run with 4:50 remaining.

Turlock ruined the shutout for Tracy with approximately two minutes remaining when it connected on a long touchdown pass (42-7 final).

COACHES COMMENTS:

Coach Oh was all smiles with his team and coaches after the big win on Friday night.  "It's another week of me feeling some kind of weird out of body experience as this all unfolds," said Johnnie Oh who has led the team the last two plus weeks of the season as the interim coach.  "The support of the coaches has been so valuable through all this.  They are second to none and they are all working so hard to do their jobs and that is a recipe to success."

While the players were celebrating their 5-0 start just behind Coach Oh's press conference, Coach Oh knew there was going to be one significant issue to correct heading into league.  "Penalties, penalties, penalties.  That's the biggest stat that pops right off the page.  It's frustrating.  To be honest, penalties are a reflection of the coaching, not the kids.  We are going to have to do a better job in preparation.  I think we did better than the Ripon game, but there is significant room for improvement."

Coach Oh stressed to his team that things change now as the Bulldogs enter their TCAL play in league starting October 9th at home vs Edison.  "The speed and intensity of our games will increase and we have got to get ready for what's coming."

I asked Coach Oh about the selection of the traditional Green and Gold uniforms for Friday's game.  "It was absolutely a selection made to honor the tradition of the school.  Homecoming is Homecoming and its a special night and game.  The new black uniforms are great, the players love them and the colors pop, but we made a decision to have a traditional look Friday and it worked out great."

New interim Head Coach Johnnie Oh was emotional pre and postgame as he savored the moment of leading the Bulldogs into battle and then seeing them execute swiftly and decisively on the field to eliminate Ripon 49-17 and pickup the 4th win of the season.

"It's been great to see these kids rally together," said Coach Oh who was named Interim Varsity Head Coach earlier this week.  "They are such good kids and good football players.  Their motors run high, and as a coaching staff we have to almost slow them down a little to have them execute and gel.  They are so locked in and I love to see the improvement they have displayed since I coached many of them as younger players."

The Dogs continued their trend of hitting hard on defense and gaining large chunks of yardage on the ground and in the air to quickly take a decisive lead over Ripon.

David Grisham would continue to prove he is an elite back in the 209 as he had 15 carries for 131 yards and two touchdowns.  Brady Brown would score twice and Jordan Alvarado would have a fun night entertaining the crowd with a 85 yard kickoff return and a 65 yard rushing touchdown.

    Game Summary:

After an initial stop by the Tracy defense, the Bulldog offense acquired the ball and quickly scored on a 57 yard pass play from Brady Brown to JD Palumbo (13 yard pass and then 44 yards of YAC).  The extra point by Miguel Pena made it 7-0.

At the 8:27 mark, a hard backside rush by Jakari Shadrick Brice stripped the ball from the Ripon quarterback and Luke Navas scooped up the fumble.  David Grisham scored from 32 yards out straight up the middle to make it 14-0 which included the extra point by Conner Giulliaci.

Ripon got 3 on the board with a 32 yard field goal to close the first quarter scoring at 14-3.

In the 2nd, Grisham got back in the endzone on a 24 yard rush, but it was called back on one of many flags on the night.  It didn't matter though, as Grisham would eventually find the end zone a few plays later from 4 yards out to make it 21-3.

With flags hitting the ground throughout the night, Ripon took advantage of Tracy mistakes and slowly moved up the field as time was ticking down on the half.  They would score on a 9 yard pass to close the first half scoring at 21-10.

The 2nd half belonged to Jordan Alvarado and Brady Brown with Alvarado scoring the first of two touchdowns on the opening kickoff return for 85 yards.  The Giulliaci PAT made 28-10.

With 8:20 left in the 3rd, Brown kept the ball and and rolled in from short yardage to increase the score to 35-10 on the Pena PAT.

After a Ripon 37 yard touchdown run, Brown would score again with 1:38 left in the quarter on a 1 yard run (42-17).

With 2:20 left in the game, Daniel Craig had a fumble recovery on the Ripon 34 yard line.  Arjun Kalirai gave the ball to Alvarado who then produced the highlight reel of the night as he weaved his way through the Ripon defense for 65 yards enroute to the final score of the game (49-17).

In the first Tracy Varsity visit to Lathrop, the Bulldogs delivered a message of punishment on defense and firepower on offense as the Bulldogs dominated on both sides of the ball in the 3rd game of the season.

David Grisham got the scoring started with 4:30 left in the first quarter on a 21 yard run from scrimmage where he was initially stopped up the middle and then bounced outside to find open field to the endzone.  A key play on this scoring drive was a 35 yard pass from Brady Brown to Jayden Ballard McClellan down the Lathrop sidelines.

While Miguel Pena made the first point after, the combination of Pena and Conner Giulliaci would be perfect all night delivering a total of 8 point after kicks right down the middle.

Immediately after Grisham's score, the defense delivered a blow to the Spartans.   Jakari Shadrick-Brice laid a hit on a Spartan at the Tracy 45 and Case Borges recovered the fumble.  Brady Brown would score the first of his two rushing touchdowns when he sliced his way in from 3 yards out to end the first quarter scoring at 14-0.

On the first play of the 2nd quarter, Brown kept the ball for a 24 yard score through heavy traffic.  Later in the quarter he would deliver a short pass to Maddix Severson who then found holes in the Lathrop defense to run 35 yards for a score.

Tracy would finish the first half scoring when Xavier Davenport recovered a Lathrop fumble on the Spartan 24.   Grisham would score again from 20 yards out running it right up the middle with 5:10 left in the half to make it 35-0.

In the 3rd, Tracy wasted no time getting the score to 42-0 when Ramsey Ahmad rushed from 32 yards out.  A key play in the drive was a 33 yard run from Grisham to take the ball across midfield on the play before the Ahmad score.

Jordan Alvarado got in on the scoring with 1 minute left in the 3rd on a 10 yard run.

In the 4th, JD Palumbo made a great defensive play pursuing the quarterback on a blitz, hitting his arm to dislodge the ball, and then scooping and scoring from 54 yards out.

Coach Justin Evans praised his team in the postgame press conference.  "They stayed focused all night, not allowing any distractions or the moment get to them.  Our offensive line was amazing tonight.  We had time to pass and the running lanes were wide open."

The Bulldogs now begin a 3 game home stretch that takes them into October league play.  They will host Ripon September 18th, Turlock the 25th (Homecoming), enjoy a bye week the first of October and then launch league at home vs the Edison Vikings on October 9th.

The Bulldogs are quickly 2-0 to start the 2026 season as they played an intense game full of passion, heart, and toughness vs a physical Valley Christian (VC) team on Friday night.

Valley Christian scored first in this game on a 40 yard touchdown pass with 4:22 left in the first quarter.  Tracy responded at the 2:42 mark when David Grisham would get Tracy on the board in the first quarter on a 51 yard run.  The extra point  by Miguel Pena made it 7-6 Tracy.

Disaster struck Tracy with 9:44 left in the half when the Dogs fumbled deep in Warriors territory and the ball was scooped and scored to put VC up 14-7

With 43 seconds left in the half, Tracy responded again with a Grisham 1 yard run.  The Conner Giulliaci extra point tied the game to enter the half.

Tracy responded with an intense defense to start the 2nd half and shut down the first Warrior drive.  Tracy got things rolling and had plenty of momentum on a nice drive but a Brady Brown pass was intercepted near the goal line and VC took back the momentum.

With the game locked in a defensive battle, Tracy had a thrilling tipped pass that turned into an interception and the Dogs were back in business at their own 23 yard line.  Defense still remained king in this game and the Dogs could not get in the end zone as they had pushed the ball all the way down to the 1 inch line of VC.  The Dogs lined up for 23 yard field goal but it was blocked with 2:02 left to play.

The Tracy defense held on to take the game to overtime which would start on the 25 yard line.

Brady Brown pushed his way into the end zone from 6 yards out.  The critical extra point by Pena was good to make it 21-14.

The Warriors wasted no time finding the end zone on a pass over the middle and now the extra point was all they needed to take the game to another possession for Tracy.  The Bulldogs special teams got the victory as Max Moore put a hand on the ball sending Tracy to celebrate!

On Friday night the High School football season started, and the Bulldogs collected the 21st Tracy High win in the 31 year series with West.  It was also a record setting night as the 69 points was the most in this series which started back in 1996.

The Bulldogs wasted no time letting West know who was #1 in town.  On the first play from scrimmage at the Tracy 36, Brady Brown launched a deep pass down the West sidelines to Maddix Severson who was wide open and walked into the end zone.  The point after by Miguel Pena made it 7-0.

With just 2 minutes ticked off the clock, West fumbled deep in their territory and the ball was recovered by AJ Byrd for the 2nd Tracy score.  The Conner Giulliaci point after made it 14-0.

In the next West drive, Ryan Foster would make a beautiful lunging interception to give Tracy the ball back at the West 45, but the next offensive drive would be intercepted by West.  Tracy would play spirited defense to push West out of the red zone and ultimately give Tracy the ball back.

David Grisham would get his first rushing touchdown of the year next on a 71 yard burst right up the middle with 5:25 left in the quarter.  Pena got the point after (21-0).

With 3:58 left in the quarter, Kaedan Gulko would intercept a pass on the West sidelines at their 40 to put the ball back in Brady's hands.  Brown would then throw another deep pass that was hauled in by Jayden Ballard McClellan over the middle and taken to the 2 yard line.  With 2:18 left, Brown would  race after a bad snap on the ground, buy time scrambling and eventually find Severson for his 2nd touchdown.  The point after by Giulliaci made it 28-0

Grisham would make 34-0 with 6:10 left in the 2nd quarter with a 15 yard rushing touchdown up the middle.  The point after by Pena made it 35-0.

Gulko would haul in his 2nd interception of the first half with a pick at the Tracy 23 which setup a 63 yard run by Ahmad into the red zone.  Liam Young would get the score on a 4 yard run with 2:21 left in the half

Xavier Davenport would join the party with a pick six late in the first half as he rushed the quarterback and threw up his hands to haul in the ball at the 25 and then score.  The Pena extra point was good.

          49-0 halftime.

The 2nd half would not start well for West as they fumbled on the first play and then Brown would bully his way into the end zone from 22 yards out to put Tracy up 55-0.

In the 4th quarter with a running clock, Arjun Kalirai threw a 3 yard touchdown pass to Jordan Alvarado to make it 62-0 with the point after by Pena.

West would get on the board with 9 minutes left in the game on a kickoff return to place the score at 62-7.

With 5:57 left in the game, the final Tracy touchdown would come on a 80 yard rush from Liam Young to finish the game at 69-7.
