The Rams and the Bulldogs were gridlocked in a scoreless game halfway through the 2nd quarter which gave the Dogs some optimism that this year they might have a chance in capturing that elusive win against the Rams.    A 44 yard touchdown pass would give the Rams the first points on the board which they then followed near halftime with seven more.   Trailing 14-0 in the locker room, the Tracy coaching staff had some adjustments to install, but the Rams came out and placed another 7 on the board a few minutes into the 3rd quarter causing Tracy to really play uphill the rest of the way.   With Logan Fife under pressure all evening and open receivers a hard commodity to find, Tracy could not get their scores until the 4th quarter after they were 28 points behind.

The largest offensive burst of the night was a 52 yard touchdown pass from Fife to Blake Vollbrecht to draw the Bulldogs to within 14 with 5:34 left in the game.

Fife  had 11 completions for 194 yards.  Vollbrecht led the Tracy team of receivers with 121 yards on 5 receptions.  Fife had 57 yards on the ground in 24 hard fought rushing attempts.  The Rams defense kept Trevor Pope very limited in the stat column for this Friday night.

The Tracy defense was led by Noah Deneau with 5 solo tackles, Derek Saenz, Riley Revino each had four.  At 2-6 on the season, the Bulldogs still have a chance at being in the running for an at-large playoff bid if they can take care of business against Lodi and West.

Tracy jumped out to a 13-0 lead and ended the half feeling good with a 19-6 advantage. St. Mary's owned the 3rd quarter taking the lead at 20-19.  With six minutes left Austin Ho-Sy scored his 3rd touchdown of the game and gave Tracy a 25-20 lead and then held St. Mary's to regain possession.  Marching down the field with under 3 minutes left and a 5 point lead, it looked like Tracy might score again but a fumble and a face mask penalty gave St. Mary's one more chance with 2:39 remaining.  On the first play from scrimmage, the Rams hit a jackpot with a 63 yard touchdown pass to put a dagger in Tracy's JV homecoming game.

Tracy played St. Mary's tough this year and had some opportunities in the 2nd half to be in a position of advantage but a host of penalties did not help the Bulldogs.  Tracy was flagged 10 times in the game costing them 80 yards and a couple of critical first downs.

After St. Mary's scored on the last play of the first quarter, Tracy would come back in the 2nd quarter and place two scores to take a 14-13 lead into halftime.  Cameron Ross-Escobar had a 29 yard touchdown run and he scored again with under a minute left on a 1 yard run.  Both of  Johnny Meyers kicks were good.

In the 3rd, St. Mary's was able to burn the Tracy defense on a 39 yard pass to take a 19-14 lead.  In the 4th they collected another touchdown on a 33 yard pass.   With 5:22 left in the game Santiago Mahoney had a 2 yard run to end the Tracy scoring 5 points short.

Cameron Ross-Escobar was 3 of 7 passing for 51 yards.  He rushed 9 times for 82 yards and two of the Tracy scores.   Santiago Mahoney had 13 touches for 67 yards and a TD.  Kurtis Maynor had 2 carries for 11 yards and Mateo Espinoza collected 6 yards on 6 carries.

David Garcia, Maynor, and Josh Cortinas each had a reception.

A Note About Tracy High Sports Social Media

Over the years there have been several  Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts established by past and present students utilizing names associated with Tracy High Sports and the individual THS sports teams.  Some sites are run by coaches/boosters and officially represent the current teams of the school, while other sites are not representative of a coach, booster program, or my product.   Some unofficial sites have used my photos and articles and make it look as though I'm producing the site.

As for the accounts I maintain in support of our athletic program, please follow my content on:

My Tracy High Sports website will link you to the official web pages and coaches contact information for every sport at Tracy High.   Thanks for following my accounts and I will attempt to provide you plenty of high quality photos, video, and up to date news as I enter my 12th year of volunteer sports coverage of Bulldog sports.
